Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to record runs in Moonstride?

No. Record them with Apple's Workout app on your Watch, as usual. Moonstride reads them from Apple Health, so they stay native and still count toward Activity rings and challenges.

Why don't I see my runs?

Check that Moonstride is allowed to read Workouts, Workout Routes and Heart Rate in the Health app, under Sharing, then Apps. Then pull down on any screen to refresh.

Can I use it on a treadmill?

Yes. Treadmill runs show up like any other, and the pace guide coaches indoor sessions by time, belt speed and incline instead of GPS. In a training plan, mark your treadmill days and those sessions are set up for the treadmill; you can switch any single run on the day.

How does the training plan work?

On the Today screen, tap "Training for a race?" and answer a few questions. Moonstride builds the plan from your recent runs in Health. Once a week it checks what you actually ran: it rebuilds from where you are if a week fell well short, steps up if you've been consistently running more, and warns you rather than follow a sudden big jump. Change the race, goal or days any time from the plan's menu.

Can I race the actual course?

Yes. Download the course as a GPX file from the race's website, or export it from Strava, Garmin or Komoot, then import it in Runs: tap the menu at the top right, then Routes. Pick it as your race course in your training plan and race day is paced over its hills. You can also save any run you've done as a route and race your best on it.

Why does the pace guide ask for Motion & Fitness?

To read hills from your iPhone's barometer, which measures height changes far more precisely than GPS. Then it can ease your target pace on climbs instead of telling you to speed up. If you say no, it uses GPS altitude instead.

Can I run without my iPhone?

Yes. Send a guided workout to your Watch from the Guide tab, then start it in the Workout app. Your Watch taps your wrist whenever your pace drifts out of range.

How do I make the guide's voice sound better?

Download a better voice in iOS Settings, then Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices, English. Pick one marked Enhanced or Premium, then choose it in Moonstride's settings.

Why are my heart-rate zones off?

By default, Moonstride uses the highest heart rate from your runs this year and your typical resting rate. If you know your own, set them in settings under Heart rate.

A run looks wrong after I edited it in Health. What now?

In settings, open Your data and choose "Re-read all runs from Health". Moonstride clears its saved analysis and works it out again.
