Terms of Use
Last updated 10 October 2026
These terms apply to the Moonstride app and this website, made by Farside Studio Pty Ltd ("Farside", "we"). By using Moonstride you agree to them. Please read the health and safety notice carefully: it limits our responsibility and asks you to take responsibility for how you train.
1. Health and safety notice
Moonstride is not medical advice.
Moonstride is a training tool. Its training plans, target paces, readiness and recovery scores, race predictions, insights, running form ratings and voice coaching are general guidance. They're worked out automatically from your data using rules and estimates. No doctor, physiotherapist or coach who knows you is involved. They may not suit you, and they can be wrong. Moonstride is not a medical device and doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
Check with a doctor before you start any new running or exercise programme, and before training for a race. This matters most if you're new to exercise, returning from injury, illness or pregnancy, are pregnant, or have, or think you might have, a heart, lung, blood pressure, diabetes, joint or other medical condition, or take medicine that affects your heart rate. Never ignore or delay professional medical advice because of something Moonstride says.
Listen to your body, not the app. Start gently and progress gradually. Stop straight away and get medical help if you feel chest pain or pressure, dizziness or faintness, unusual shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat, signs of heat illness or sharp or worsening pain. Never push to reach a pace, distance or time the app suggests. You can always slow down, walk, cut a run short or skip a session.
Be aware of your surroundings. Running outdoors carries risks from traffic, other people, animals, uneven ground, the dark, heat and weather. Obey traffic laws, don't look at your phone while crossing a road or in traffic, and keep audio low enough to hear what's around you. Choose routes that are safe for you. On a treadmill, follow its safety instructions.
Measurements can be inaccurate. GPS distance and pace, heart rate, elevation, sleep and other data from your iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple Health, and everything calculated from them, can be wrong. Don't rely on Moonstride for anything where accuracy matters for your health or safety.
2. Your own risk
Running and exercise carry a risk of injury, illness and, rarely, death. You choose whether, when, where, how far and how hard to run, and whether to follow any guidance in Moonstride. You take part in any physical activity at your own risk and you accept those risks.
3. The app as it is
Moonstride is provided as it is and as available. We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we don't promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate or suitable for your particular purpose, or that it will help you reach a goal.
4. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, Farside and its directors, employees and contractors aren't liable for any injury, illness, death, loss or damage arising from your use of Moonstride, from following or not following its guidance, or from your physical activity. Where our liability can't be excluded but can be limited, it's limited to the amount you paid for Moonstride, if anything.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded, including South Africa's Consumer Protection Act, or our liability for gross negligence or anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude.
5. Using the app
You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission. Use Moonstride only for your own personal training and in line with the law. Apple's standard licence for App Store apps also applies to your use of the app.
6. Privacy
How Moonstride handles your data is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short, it stays on your iPhone.
7. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and if the health and safety notice changes in an important way, the app will ask you to agree again.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
